Thoughts about AI

I like to think of AI as a cool, new thing that will change how we interact with the world, communicate with others, and our relationship with computers. I've heard of AI for years reading Sci-fi and watching Sci-fi movies and shows. I've always thought it was so cool, but in a way that will never come to be, like time travel. I'm still not convinced it will be on a level like human brains, but currently, it is turning out to be an incredible technology.

I haven't used chat-gpt very much, but the times I do use it, I'm impressed how quickly and accurately it gives me a response. I can have a conversation with it and it doesn't get offended or give me attitude when I say it's wrong. I've been using it more for answering questions regarding code development, and it beats going to Google and manually going to sites looking for answers. Instead of reading the documentation, I simply ask a question and get an answer for that specific question.

Am I scared it is going to put me out of work? Not at the time being, but what am I doing for work? Analyzing data and fitting people for running shoes. The data science part, it does seem to be on a road that will automate more of my job, but is that going to put me out of work? Maybe. I'm just a beginner when it comes to coding and data science, so it feels like in my journey to becoming more intelligent in that area is being thwarted by AI advancement.

It will be interesting to see where AI goes in the next few years. How will our lives being different?

My opinion, I think we are more scared about large companies replacing our jobs with AI because it will be cheaper in the long run. A beginner developer might take 2-3 years before they finally gain enough experience. So the problem isn't AI, but how are we going to go from a beginner, learning how to code the "hard" way, to becoming a senior developer? I have read and seen videos explaining how to learn to code, and they say to do projects, create some basic programs. But AI can do all that. AI can even program a lot more advanced things that I cannot. Obviously it will need a human to say if it was correct when writing code, but wow, it's really impressive.

So what is my opinion on AI? I'm frightened, yet excited. I want to see where it can go, but I don't want it to completely do everything for me. I want to keep learning and developing.

I say bring on the AI, but we owe it to people to invest in humans and not computers. We need to be able to recognize when people want to get better, and who is a free-loader. People who actually want to work and earn a living with integrity should be rewarded and celebrated. But it's hard to tell the difference.

We will get there, and it's an exciting time for AI. I'm looking forward to AI development and hope it will change our world for the better. Time will tell!!

(btw, wrote this half paying attention and tired. No proof-reading, that's how we roll around here.)
